Thrustmaster T248R vs Logitech G923

Thrustmaster's replacement for the T248 against Logitech's long-standing mid-range wheel — more torque and magnetic hardware on one side, aluminium and TrueForce on the other, with a €130 gap between them.

Highlighting marks where one wheel leads on the published figure. Source: Thrustmaster comparison data and official EN product sheets, September 2026. Thrustmaster's comparison sheet quotes the T248R at 3.2 N·m while its product sheet states 3.1 N·m; we use the product-sheet figure throughout.

What the numbers actually mean

Drive type is the difference that matters most. The G923 is a pure gear-driven wheel; the T248R uses Thrustmaster's hybrid belt-and-gear system. Gears transmit force efficiently but transmit their own texture with it — a faint notchiness through the rim. A belt in the path smooths that out. Combined with 3.1 N·m against 2.3, the T248R has both more force and, on paper, a cleaner way of delivering it.

The sensor choice is the one buyers underrate. Both pedal sets have three pedals with metal heads, but the G923 reads them with potentiometers and the T248R with frictionless magnetic sensors. Potentiometers are contact devices: they wear, and braking precision drifts over months of use. Magnetic sensors have nothing to wear. The same applies to the paddle shifters — magnetic on the T248R, tact switches on the G923.

Where Logitech answers back. The G923's faceplate is aluminium against plastic with a carbon texture, which is a real materials advantage you feel every time you touch it. And TrueForce is a genuine differentiator: it drives feedback from the game's audio signal, adding engine and surface detail that a torque figure does not capture. Drivers who value it tend to value it a lot.

Then there is the price. €299.99 against €429.99 at recommended retail, and roughly AED 1,019 against AED 1,244 in the UAE. The cheaper wheel is also the one with more torque, more controls and better sensors — which is an unusual position for the cheaper wheel to be in.

Against the outgoing models too

Both the T248 and the G29 remain on sale alongside their successors. Thrustmaster's own four-way comparison puts them side by side:

SRP€299.99€349.99€429.99€419.99

Two things stand out. The T248R is cheaper than the T248 it replaces at recommended retail, while adding a colour display and a carbon-textured faceplate. And the G29, the oldest wheel here, still lists at €419.99 — within €10 of the G923 — which makes it hard to recommend at list price against either Thrustmaster.

Which to buy

The T248R is the stronger specification at a lower price, and if you are choosing on what the hardware can do, it is the straightforward pick: more torque, smoother delivery, sensors that will not degrade, a usable display and four encoders instead of one.

Choose the G923 if TrueForce appeals to you, or if build materials matter more than figures. An aluminium faceplate is not a small thing on a device you grip for hours, and audio-driven feedback is a genuinely different sensation that no specification sheet conveys.

We would rather not tell you which feels better, because we have not driven either. When we do, this page becomes a scored review.

FAQ

Is the Thrustmaster T248R more powerful than the Logitech G923?

On the published figures, yes. Thrustmaster states 3.1 N·m for the T248R against 2.3 N·m for the G923, and the T248R uses a hybrid belt-and-gear system where the G923 is pure gear drive. Belt assistance generally means smoother delivery and less notchiness than gears alone.

What does the G923 do better?

Two things stand out. Its faceplate is aluminium where the T248R uses plastic with a carbon texture, and it carries TrueForce — Logitech's system that drives feedback from the game's audio signal, which some drivers rate highly for engine and surface detail. Neither shows up in a torque figure.

Which is better value in the Gulf?

The T248R is meaningfully cheaper. Thrustmaster's SRP is €299.99 against €429.99 for the G923, and at UAE retail the gap holds — roughly AED 1,019 versus AED 1,244. On specification per dirham the T248R is ahead; on materials the G923 answers back.

Do both work on PS5?

Yes. Both are officially licensed for PS4, PS5 and PC. Neither works on Xbox.

Have you tested these yourself?

No. This page compares published specifications from Thrustmaster and is not a hands-on review — it carries no score. The wheels in this class we have actually driven are the T248 and the G29, compared in our tested budget matchup.
